Good to know: Michigan protects inland lakes and their shorelines. Sand stays above the Ordinary High Water Mark. Anything placed or dug below it, powered or large-scale weed removal, work in wetlands (including many cattail stands) and chemical treatments need an EGLE permit, and earth work within 500 feet of a lake may need a county soil erosion permit. We'll tell you up front what your project needs and won't start until permits are in place.
